Types of Bunk beds available
Following is a list of
five types of bunk beds:
Standard
Bunk Bed: The Standard Bunk is considered the basic bunk bed. If
one of the lower bed rails is eliminated, it becomes a loft bed.
Stackable
Bunk Bed: The Stackable Bunk can be divided into two single beds. It can
also be converted to a Loft or L-Shaped bed, with another twin bed
underneath.
Loft Bunk Bed: The Loft
Bed is comparable to a bed on stilts. With this particular
style
of bunk bed, the usable floor space in a room can be increased. There
can be approximately a 55" clearance underneath a tall loft bed. This
could accommodate a desk and/or a chest of drawers. This type of bed is
popular in dorms.
L-shaped
Bunk Bed: The L-shape bunk is a loft bed with a matching twin lower bed
arranged at a right angle. The two beds can be situated in several
different ways. The Loft and single can be different sizes. For example,
you
may have a full loft bed and a lower twin bed.
Twin Bed over Full Bed: The twin bed over full bed has a full size bed
on
the
bottom with a twin bed on the top. It can also be converted to a
stackable bed. There are also bunk beds available that have a full sized
bed over a twin sized bed.
All beds can be either standard height of 66" or 72" tall.
The sizes of bunk beds are: Twin, Twin Extra Long (often used in dorms),
Full (double), Queen or custom sizes. A bunk bed can be a safe sleeping
and
space-saving resolution. However, you should use the following
guidelines:
Choose a bunk bed that meets the up-to-date safety standards; buy the
bunk
bed from a reputable dealer; set it up properly; oversee its use.
